6 Steps to End Overwhelm for Super Moms

busy mom daily routine supplements

We know it may seem confusing that we call this site "Crunchy Super Mom" yet we talk a lot about combatting overwhelm. Our philosophy is that every mom can be the super mom that she desires without becoming Overwhelmed Super Mom. It is just a matter of creating a routine--or following an efficient process. There is always a new season coming upon us in this life so we want to spend time helping you create efficient processes for many everyday tasks that suck up all your time. But first...let's take a moment to learn a few remedies that can help us when a new season takes us by surprise!

Rescue Remedy

A story from Sarah: When my middle child was almost four she had a frenotomy  (tie/lip tie release) and adenoidectomy (removal of the adenoid). One of the remedies suggested for her and even for me was something called Bach's Rescue Remedy. If you read the story about Bach's Rescue Remedy--you may react the way I did and think: Boy, that is really out there! Maybe it was the alcohol content (I'm halfway joking) or maybe it was a placebo, but whatever it was--it worked. I made my way into the waiting room nearly trembling and unable to hold back my tears. I frantically sprayed my tongue with what tasted like straight shelf vodka (Read: terrible) and waited to feel better. I didn't wait too long before trying another squirt. Oddly, my hands stopped shaking and I felt my emotions settle. I finally felt like the rock my daughter needed me to be as she prepared for her surgery. Bach's Rescue Remedy comes in a variety of products from chewing gum to lozenges. They even have an alcohol-free version (wish I had known that initially) and kid versions. There are more specific purposes for each of the remedies, but for the overwhelmed mom going into back to school season--Rescue Remedy is perfect. Try the gum or pastilles and let me know what you think!

Boost Your Diet

Super Moms need snacks--more than kids usually! We know we never sit down for the entire duration of my meal and 90% of our food is cold before we eat it. This isn't because we're too busy--it's because of our poor planning! We've learned to keep some of these three foods nearby:

Oranges--a good shot of vitamin C
Avocados--healthy fat that helps me feel satisfied between meals, bonus: it helps lower blood pressure
Dried, sulphate free fruit like apricots, papaya, and mango (it doesn't hurt to add nuts or seeds with these...oh and a dab or 5 of chocolate)

Support Your Body

It is our belief that humans should get everything the body needs from their food but this isn't always possible. Our food quality has diminished greatly in the last 100 years and the price for good food has gone up dramatically. There are some herbs and supplements that are still from the earth that can help fill in the gaps of our diet or act as a supporting agent for our bodies.

Be sure to ask a healthcare provider or someone with expertise on these type of remedies before adding them to your routine. While they are natural, there are some contraindications for some of these.

Magnesium: We know you've seen the articles on this. Topical magnesium is our preferred method but there are some foods high in magnesium (like dried apricots).

Chamomile: tea, essential oil and the homeopathic remedy can all have a calming effect on you

Green or black tea: opt for tea choices free of caffeine as often as possible, caffeine can increase anxiety whereas a tasty herbal tea can relax the mind

Lemon balm: definitely lowers stress and when paired with valerian root, it appears to be a great sleep aid according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
