Pristine: Minimally processed, whole food sweeteners
- Organic molasses
- Organic dehydrated sugar cane juice,
- Organic maple syrup or sugar,
- Organic green stevia leaves or powder (from the whole herb),
- Raw honey that has not been filtered (for children over one year of age).
Clean:
- Organic coconut sugar (there are concerns on the sustainability of this sugar)
- Organic palm sugar (there are concerns on the sustainability of this sugar)
- Organic date sugar
- Organic cane sugar
Avoid:
- Conventional sugar (usually derived from GMO sugar beets)
- High fructose corn syrup
- Agave syrup
- Brown rice syrup
- Imitation syrups
- Stevia extracts
- Heated honey or any honey from China
- Artificial sweeteners such as sucralose and aspartame
- Sugar alcohols (xylitol may be excluded for dental purposes only)
