Pristine:  Minimally processed, whole food sweeteners

  • Organic molasses
  • Organic dehydrated sugar cane juice,
  • Organic maple syrup or sugar,
  • Organic green stevia leaves or powder (from the whole herb),
  • Raw honey that has not been filtered (for children over one year of age).  

Clean:

  • Organic coconut sugar (there are concerns on the sustainability of this sugar)
  • Organic palm sugar (there are concerns on the sustainability of this sugar)
  • Organic date sugar
  • Organic cane sugar

Avoid:

  • Conventional sugar (usually derived from GMO sugar beets)
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Agave syrup
  • Brown rice syrup
  • Imitation syrups
  • Stevia extracts
  • Heated honey or any honey from China
  • Artificial sweeteners such as sucralose and aspartame
  • Sugar alcohols (xylitol may be excluded for dental purposes only)
