Pristine: Fats and oils should come from trusted sources. Animal fats should come from farms that can be trusted. Vegetable oil sources must also be examined as there is fraud in the industry and while a label may claim “extra virgin olive oil”, it could actually be a cheaper sunflower oil with some olive oil added.
- Organic extra virgin olive oil
- Organic virgin coconut oil
- Organic unrefined palm oil
- Organic cold pressed macadamia
- Fats from pastured animals raised on trusted farms with no antibiotics, hormones, or vaccines.
Clean:
- Organic cold or expeller pressed coconut
- Organic Avocado oil
- Organic Almond oil
- Organic Hazelnut oil
- Organic high oleic sunflower oil
- Organic high oleic safflower oil
Avoid:
- All margarine and spreads
- All commercial vegetable oils including:
- soy
- corn
- canola
- hydrogenated vegetable oils
- shortening
- anything containing “natural flavors”
- animal fats from conventionally raised animals
